Carlos Tevez
Carlos Tevez has just signed for Manchester United for the biggest fee ever in English football. The twenty four year old Argentinean has been involved with transfer speculation when he joined West Ham United in 2006, but the fee, that is supposed to be just over thirty two million pounds, will be paid to Tevez’s sports investment firm owners MSI.
Carlos Tevez really captured the attention of the Manchester United fans during a year long loan at the club in the 2007-08 season, and is believed to be the main reason for his move. In the last season, Tevez made just under fifty appearances, scoring nineteen goals, and also helping Manchester United to win the Premier League and the Champions League.
Tevez began his foot balling career in Argentina playing for his local side Boca Juniors, where he spent three years before joining Corinthians. This is when he signed the deal with MSI that would lead to later controversy. Following his arrival in England, where he played for London club West Ham United, Carlos Tevez made a name for himself in the English game after almost single handedly keeping the Hammers in the Premier League. After this impressive season there was much interest in Tevez, with West Ham saying they owned the player, but it turned out that Media Sports Investments (MSI) actually owned the player, and it was agreed, after a court decision, that the player would be released, and this is when Tevez first went to United.
The contract that Carlos Tevez has recently signed will keep him at Manchester United for many years, which has taken place one year through the Argentinians two year loan spell at the club. Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, claimed that Tevez sacrificed himself for the club and never complained, and team mate Owen Hargreaves was also singing the twenty four year old’s praises.
Will Cristiano Ronaldo go to Real Madrid?
Undoubtedly, the question that has been in most football fans minds this summer is that of whether or not the talented winger, Cristiano Ronaldo, will go to the Spanish club Real Madrid.
Although Real Madrid have always said that they wish to purchase the twenty three year old, it has been only recently that the rumours have sparked, with Cristiano Ronaldo hinting at his wish to leave Manchester United, and Real Madrid making reported offers of one hundred million pounds, as well as two players to the value of fifty million pounds. Cristiano Ronaldo has not played down the rumours though, claiming he would like to move to Madrid, and hinting that he enjoyed playing in white.
Sir Alex Ferguson, the Manchester United manager, is refusing to sell the player though, saying that he would do whatever it takes to keep the Portuguese winger at the club, including sacrificing his job. Ferguson also infuriated Ronaldo by saying that he would rather see him sitting in the stands than playing for Real Madrid next season.
So, the question stands of whether Cristiano Ronaldo will go to Real Madrid or not. Ronaldo’s contract at Manchester United doesn’t run out until 2010, so he still has two years left, but it looks unlikely that the player will stay for that long. The most likely scenario at the moment seems to be that Ronaldo will leave United once Sir Alex Ferguson has retired, as he is the main reason for the deal not going ahead, but with Real Madrid offering such high amounts, the Glazier family will be keen to sell the winger, and although a move this summer does not look likely, it is probable that Cristiano Ronaldo will be playing in Madrid in the near future, with a transfer looking closer by the day, and everyone will watch with keen eyes in the January 2009 transfer window.

Gianluca Comotto will return to the Viola after already having spent a disappointing 6 month spell on loan earlier in his career. He said “Now i want o show Fiorentina supporters who is the real Comotto”. Fiorentina will hope to push on and challenge for the Serie A title next season and these 2 signings will just reinforce the already solid squad of players Fiorentina already possess.
